What is Jikiden Reiki?
Jikiden is a term meaning ‘directly taught’ or ‘as my teacher taught me,’ reflecting that Jikiden Reiki adheres closely to its origins and the teachings of Reiki founder, Mikao Usui. It preserves Reiki as it was originally taught, without modern adaptations.
Over time, Reiki developed in different ways as it spread through different cultures. In Japan, however, the traditional practice continued through Chiyoko Yamaguchi, who had learned Reiki in the 1930s. Today, Jikiden Reiki shares this Japanese approach without the Western adaptations that became part of many other Reiki traditions.
