Reiki Training

It begins with how to perceive the Reiki energy, how to deepen that perception, and how to use Reiki to enhance the wellbeing of yourself and others.

It is an intensive training and students are surprised at how much they learn in a short period of time.

It is the beginning, and your knowledge grows with experience as you start to practice and your connection to Reiki deepens.

Shoden and Okuden are the Practitioner levels. Your starting point is Shoden and with completion of Shoden you will have qualified to give a hands-on Reiki treatment to yourself, family, friends and clients.  Having completed Shoden, many students go on to learn Okuden as they want to add to their skills and deepen their understanding of Reiki. Shoden and Okuden can be taken as a combined course.

I hold seminars at my home in Upper Hopton, a semi-rural village nestling in the foothills of the Pennines.  It is a pleasant and peaceful atmosphere that works well for learning Reiki. If you would like me to travel to your area to teach, then please get in touch so that I can arrange a course venue and dates to suit you.

  • Is it difficult to learn Reiki?
It is not difficult to learn Reiki and the teaching methods used in JIkiden Reiki are designed to help you succeed. Jikiden Reiki is a simple technique that everyone can learn. It is natural to us, and you will quickly know how to give effective treatments to yourself and others. Students are surprised at how much they learn in a short time. Classes are kept small with a maximum of six students, to allow the time and space to absorb and practice new skills. One to one training is also available. You will have fun as you learn! You will be part of a group of like-minded people and new skills will be formed alongside new friendships. Both can last a lifetime.
  • What will I learn?
Reiki can be considered as a meditation that leads you on a journey of discovery. Give it your full attention and it will become a lifelong practice. The learning never ends! Shoden and Okuden are the Practitioner levels. Many students opt to combine them into one course, taught over three days, or they can be taken as separate courses. Your starting point is Shoden. You will be shown how to perceive and work with Reiki energy, and there will be a clearing of your own energy system. You will be introduced to the guiding principles and practices of Jikiden Reiki and its cornerstones, the Gokai and Byosen. You will gain an understanding of the body's natural healing system and the feedback it gives when it receives Reiki energy (Byosen). You will learn and practice how to give a Reiki treatment to yourself and others, and you will also receive a Reiki treatment. You will take a dip into Japanese culture and traditions and hear the stories of the people who founded and developed Reiki and of their determination to share its practice. Today Reiki is used around the world and you become part of a global community with an aim to improve overall health and happiness. On completion of Shoden you will be able to give a hands-on Reiki treatment to yourself, family, friends and clients. You will also have been taught some first aid techniques for use with minor everyday mishaps. It is the start and your learning grows and develops as you practice. You will be registered with the Institute in Japan and you can join the Jikiden Reiki UK Association.
  • What happens after Shoden - the first level?
Now is the time for practice and exploration. Start by including self treatment in your daily routine, and you may want to treat other people. As you use Reiki you maintain and build on the energy flow that was stimulated in your Shoden training so it is important to put your learning into action. If you want to add to your skills and deepen your understanding of Reiki you can follow on with Okuden training. Where Shoden teaches you how to treat the physical body, Okuden gives you additional techniques for the treatment of emotional and psychological issues. Shoden and Okuden can be taken separately or they can be combined into one course. The choice is yours. Okuden is a requirement if you want to teach Jikiden Reiki and your training after Okuden would then be Shihan Kaku (Assistant Teacher) and Shihan (Teacher). This further learning takes some years to complete. Within Jikiden Reiki there is a provision for you to repeat any training course, with any approved Jikiden Reiki teacher, at concessionary rates. As your experience and understanding develop your learning may take on a deeper meaning. Different questions arise and you may want to explore this. Be prepared for growth and development and enjoy where it takes you - it may change your life!
  • What is included?
Quality content delivered professionally in a relaxed environment with strong follow-on support. Training materials, manuals and attendance cards are provided. You will be regisitered with the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto and you are eligible to join the Jikiden Reiki UK Association. You will be presented with a certificate in English on completion of your course and the Institute will then send a certificate written in Japanese Kanji – a beautiful document that people treasure. Jikiden Reiki is taught worldwide, and course fees are set for each country, based on its economy. This creates the same value around the globe. In the U.K. new students pay £260 for Shoden and £250 for Okuden. Repeating of all courses is offered at a concessionary rate. This is a commitment to your ongoing development long after your initial training has finished. As your teacher, I am available whenever you require support and guidance. In addition I hold regular meetings (Reiju kai) where Practitioners get together to recap on training points and to share ideas and thoughts. Reiju is also given. There is a small charge to attend.
