Reiki Treatments

Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed;
it means the damage no longer controls our lives

Reiki is simple and can be used by everyone as part of everyday life. It is natural to us and helps people to play a greater part in their own healing and wellbeing.  You can receive treatments from a Reiki practitioner, and you can learn to become a Reiki practitioner and give treatments to yourself and others.

Arrange your Reiki treatment so that you can take some time out afterwards to support the healing that is happening within you. Even if it is only 20-30 minutes it will make a difference.  During your treatment you will have experienced the deep relaxation that stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities.  Your immune system is being strengthened and your body is finding balance.  The soothing relaxation that occurs encourages natural healing.

I have had the privilege to work with many people since I completed my first Reiki training in 2006. During that time, I have found Reiki to be a safe and effective treatment that  also works well in support of conventional medicine and different therapies. Reiki Practitioners do not diagnose conditions or prescribe or alter medication. If you are worried about any symptoms, it is important that you consult a doctor.

Our main goal when working with Reiki is to improve ourselves, our health and our lives. Be prepared for renewal, growth and change. Accept and enjoy what happens.

  • Is it difficult to learn Reiki?
    It is not difficult to learn Reiki and the teaching methods used in Jikiden Reiki are designed to help you succeed. Reiki is a simple technique that everyone can learn. It is natural to us, and you will quickly know how to give effective treatments to yourself and others. Students are surprised at how much they learn in a short time. Classes are kept small with a maximum of six students, to allow the time and space to absorb and practice new skills. One to one training is also available. Beyond the technical skills, the practice of Reiki instills a sense of peace and balance in students, helping them to connect more deeply with themselves and the world around them. This inner transformation is often noted as one of the most rewarding aspects of learning Reiki, as it fosters personal growth and wellbeing. You will also have fun as you learn! You will be part of a group of like-minded people and new skills will be formed alongside new friendships. Both can last a lifetime.
  • What will I learn?
    At Simply Reiki, Jikiden Reiki training is a deeply enriching experience that combines traditional Japanese Reiki practices with a modern understanding of holistic healing. The training is divided into two primary Practitioner levels: Shoden and Okuden. Shoden serves as the foundational level, teaching essential techniques and the basic concepts of Reiki energy healing. Okuden is the advanced level, which delves deeper into more complex Reiki practices and enhances your ability to channel Reiki energy. Many students choose to combine Shoden and Okuden into one comprehensive course, but they can also be taken separately depending on your personal preference and schedule. Through Jikiden Reiki training at Simply Reiki, you'll gain valuable skills that not only enhance your own well-being but also enable you to facilitate healing for others. This training is designed to be thorough and transformative, making it an enduring part of your life.
  • What is the Shoden Curriculum?
    SHODEN is a Japanese word meaning 'first teaching' and is often referred to as Level One. Shoden is taught over three days and the curriculum includes: The history of Reiki and its founding members and how Reiki has developed, so that today it is practiced in every country throughout the world. You will take a dip into the fascinating culture of Japan. A good understanding here gives you a firm foundation for learning and growing with Reiki. The meaning of the word Reiki and an explanation of other terms used within Reiki. As Reiki originated in Japan we use some Japanese words and expressions. You will learn a little about the Japanese language and leave speaking a little of it! An introduction to the Gokai, the five principles to help you live well. Let them into your life. Created by Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, they are simple on the surface but you will find a depth of wisdom within them. You will receive three Reiju during Shoden and there will be a clearing of your own energy system. The giving and receiving of Reiju will be explained. You may know it by the term of Attunement that is used in Western Reiki. Reiki Mawashi and Reiki Okuri will show you how to perceive the Reiki energy. Guidance is given for home practice on how to generate Reiki and deepen your perception of it. You will learn one Shirushi (symbol). This is designed to give you some additional help when it is needed. An understanding of the body's own natural healing process - how it stores and disposes of toxins. Working with Byosen. This is a cornerstone of Jikiden Reiki and is usually developed over time. It is being able to read the body's response to the Reiki energy given. The body's feedback system that helps you give treatments that meet the needs of the person receiving Reiki from you. Reiki is a form of self-care. You will learn, and practice, how to give a treatment to yourself. Regular self-treatment is an excellent way to maintain your own health and quality of life. Once you can treat yourself, you will learn how to give a hands-on Reiki treatment to others, and how to finish that treatment with a technique that stimulates circulation in the body - Ketsueki Kokan Ho. Some first aid practices that you will find helpful in everyday life to use for yourself and others when dealing with minor injuries. Particularly valuable in a family environment when treating children for the cuts and scrapes usually dealt with at home. Time is given for questions, practice and feedback so that you leave with the knowledge and confidence to change your life with Reiki.
  • What happens after Shoden - the first level?
    Upon completing Shoden training you will experience several important milestones in your journey. Shoden focuses on healing for yourself and others and on familiarising yourself with the fundamental principles of Reiki energy. After this training you may notice an increased sense of inner peace, improved stress management, and a heightened awareness of your own energy flow. As you use Reiki you maintain and build on the energy flow that was stimulted in your Shoden training, so it is important to put your learning into action. Now is the time for practice and exploration. Integrate the Gokai into your daily life. Start the five-day practice to develop sensitive hands. Include self treatment in your routine, and if you want to treat other people then begin now! As you progress beyond Shoden you may decide to take Okuden training. This level delves deeper into the mysteries of Reiki, enhancing your abilities and knowledge. You will learn advanced techniques for energy healing, including distance healing and the use of shirushi (symbols) and jumon (mantras). Upon completion of Okuden you will be proficient in advanced Reiki techniques and students note that they find a deeper understanding and connection to Reiki. Okuden is a requirement if you want to teach Jikiden Reiki. The teacher training courses are Shihan Kaku (Assistant Teacher) and Shihan (Teacher). This further learning takes some years to complete. Reiki can be considered as a meditation that leads you on a journey of discovery. Give it your full attention and it will become a lifelong practice. The learning never ends!
  • What is the Okuden Curriculum?
    OKUDEN is a Japanese word meaning 'inner teaching' and is often referred to as Level Two. The curriculum includes the following: Further thought-provoking insight into Japanese traditions and culture, including Buddhist influences. In my experience Okuden holds some simply beautiful concepts. You will receive two Reiju You will be taught how to write a few words in Kanji In Shoden you were taught how to give a hands-on treatment to improve physical and emotional health. In Okuden you will learn a further two techniques – SeiHeki Chiryo and Enkaku Chiryo. SeiHeki Chiryo –aimed at improving emotional and psychological wellbeing by relieving anxiety, fears and phobias. SeiHeki helps people bring about change in their lives by moving away from unwanted habits, whatever the issues involved. You will be taught when and how to give a SeiHeki treatment. You will learn one Shirushi (symbol) and one Kotodama (mantra). Enkaku Chiryo- distance treatment. A practice that uses energy to give healing to someone who cannot be with you in person. Enkaku was used with great effect during Covid and is valuable in many situations where someone cannot attend for a treatment in person. You will be taught when and how to give an Enkaku treatment. You will learn your first Jumon. When the teaching is understood you will spend time practising, becoming familiar with the techniques you have learned. We will also take time to give and receive hands-on Reiki treatments, as taught in Shoden. Students often say they feel their connection to Reiki has deepened as the Okuden teaching settles within them. Many students take a Combined Course that includes both Shoden and Okuden, usually over five days, or sometimes four days. Others prefer to take a Shoden only course and follow on with Okuden later, often repeating the Shoden course at the same time. Okuden is taught over two days, and the course is a requirement for students who want to teach Jikiden Reiki.
  • What is included?
    Quality content delivered professionally in a relaxed environment with strong follow-on support. Training materials, manuals and attendance cards are provided. You will be regisitered with the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto and you are eligible to join the Jikiden Reiki UK Association. You will be presented with a certificate in English on completion of your course and the Institute will then send a certificate written in Japanese Kanji – a beautiful document that people treasure. Jikiden Reiki is taught worldwide, and course fees are set for each country, based on its economy. This creates the same value around the globe. In the U.K. new students pay £260 for Shoden and £250 for Okuden. Repeating of all courses is offered at a concessionary rate. This is a commitment to your ongoing development long after your initial training has finished. As your teacher, I am available whenever you require support and guidance. In addition I hold regular meetings (Reiju kai) where Practitioners get together to recap on training points and to share ideas and thoughts. Reiju is also given. There is a small charge to attend.
